What Does Atemoya Taste Like?
A unique tropical fruit with a rich, custard-like flavor.
Difference Between Cherimoya and Atemoya
While both fruits are creamy and naturally sweet, cherimoya tends to have a softer, more tropical flavor, with a consistency almost like custard especially when fully ripe. Atemoya is slightly firmer due to its fiber and is also sweet, though less sweet compared to cherimoya varieties like honey heart, with a subtle vanilla-like taste.
How to Eat Atemoya
Once ripe, simply cut the fruit in half and scoop out the creamy flesh with a spoon. It can also be enjoyed in smoothies, fruit bowls, desserts or on its own.
How to Ripen Atemoya
Keep atemoyas at room temperature until they becomes slightly soft to the touch. For more guidance on knowing when your atemoya is ready to enjoy, see our Ripening Guide.
